There definitely are other impressive falls, but when we were at the Tallulah Gorge State Park, Hurricane Falls was the most impressive one:
Weitere wirbelnde Wasser

Normally, I publish videos only on my other blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„, but I think this one here, of those falls, is worth showing here, too:
Bild kommt.

The water really is gushing, almost like it’s shooting out under pressure. What a neat area to explore.

It was a great experience: seeing the rushing waters and hearing nothing but the rushing soiund and birds!

I found some information on the naming of the Devil’s falls, but nothing about Hurricane Falls. Do you know why the name was chosen? I suppose it might be simply the force of the water reminding people of a hurricane.

I have no idea. 😦
As to the force: when I saw it at this low level of water, I was wondering what it must look like when they open the sluices at the dam upwards, as they do a few times a year, to allow kayaking and white-water rafting. This is from the park’s website: „On a typical day, the water flow through the gorge is 35–40 CFS (cubic feet per second). During aesthetic releases, the flow is 200 CFS, and during whitewater releases, the flow is 500 CFS on Saturday and 700 CFS on Sunday. “ To my mind it must be a sight to behold.
