After seeing posts under this title on Andreas from the „Awapi – Away on a Trip“ blog, I would like to start a similar Friday series here, but in a slightly different form. I don’t want to stick to the guidelines/suggestions from Barbara on her blog „Scrap – Impulse„, but fill my Fridays here by simply presenting (old) photos in loose succession. I would like to start with a view from Enchanted Rock „near Fredericksburg, my first acquaintance with the beautiful Texas Hill Country, when Mary took me there on my very first visit to Texas in the summer of 1999 [see also my post“ Throwback Thursday“ from this week here]:
Freitagsfüller
Nachdem ich Posts unter diesem Titel bei Andrea vom „Awapi – Away on a Trip“ Blog gesehen habe, möchte ich auch hier eine ähnliche freitägliche Reihe starten, allerdings in etwas anderer Form. Ich möchte mich hier nicht an die Vorgaben/Anregungen von Barbara auf ihrem Blog „Scrap – Impulse“ halten, sondern meinen Freitag hier füllen, indem ich in loser Folge ganz einfach (alte) Fotos präsentiere. Anfangen möchte mit einem Ausblick vom Enchanted Rock“ nahe bei Fredericksburg, meiner ersten Bekanntschaft mit der wunderschönen Texas Hill Country, als mich Mary bei meinem allerersten Besuch in Texas im Sommer 1999 [siehe dazu auch mein Posting „Throwback Thursday“ von dieser Woche hier] dorthin mitgenommen hat:

Ja, liebe Andrea, Texas Hill Country ist wirklich eine wunderbare Gegend. Gern geschenhen, was die Verlinkung angeht. Aber eigentlih habe ich ja nur den Namen dieses Post insofern uebernommen, als ich eben einen Freitag „fuelle“, nicht aber in dem Sinne, den Barbara meint, und den auch Du aufgenommen hast: dass sie naemlich Lueckentexte vorgibt, die man dann eben mit eigenen Gedanken fuellt. Ich koennte mir fuer meine Posts auch „Friday Flashbacks“ vorstellen, wei ich aj eben ganz alte Fotos aus meinem Archiv zeigen moechte, von lange bevor ich das Bloggen angefangen habe.

Have you heard or seen what the wildflowers are doing at Enchanted Rock now? It may still be too early there for a good floral display, as is the case in so many other places in this freeze-delayed spring.

I haven’t been out for any wildflowers yet. But I should certainly try to find some.

In Austin and its surroundings there are now plenty of individual wildflowers. Colonies have been taking longer to show up, but some are beginning to.

Maybe the recent severe winter makes them somewhat late.

That’s been people’s assumption. Whether the freeze will end up having kept colonies from being as lush as usual remains to be seen. Naturally we’re hoping it’s only a delay.

I hope so, too. To my mind, much more depends on the right amount of rain during the winter months, and that, unfortunately, has not been much at all.

Enchanted Rock, ein reiner Granitblock, bietet eine wirklich fntastische Rundumsicht. Und im Sommer kann man auf dem Stein Spiegeleier braten oder Steaks grillen! 😉
