Let’s continue again with a few more pictures and remarks from Mary’s first trip to Germany in the summer of 2001: Bacharach was our last stop on this trip – if you disregard the fact that we spent one more night in Wiesbaden so that Mary was closer to Frankfurt Airport for her return flight early in the morning. Bacharach is still one of Mary’s favourite cities in Germany, and her face always lights up when we pass close by again.

Weiter mit ein paar Fotos und Anmerkungen zu Marys erster Deutschlandreise im Sommer 2001: Bacharach war unsere letzte Station auf dieser Reise – wenn man einmal davon absieht, dass wir noch eine Nacht in Wiesbaden verbracht haben, damit Mary näher am Flughafen Frankfurt war für ihren Rückflug am frühen Morgen. Bacharach ist nach wie vor eine der Lieblingsstädte Marys in Deutschland, und ihr Gesicht leuchtet immer auf, wenn wir einmal wieder nahe daran vorbeikommen.

I loved my trip to Bacharach. Such a charming little village. Americans have a hard time wrapping their head around a house still standing that was from the 1300’s. Great images-thanks for sharing!

Schönes Städtchen, es war mich völlig unbekannt und viel näher als ich dachte. Durch das Hochwasser vom letzten Monat gibt es jeder Menge gesperrte Strassen, dauert ein paar Minütchen länger um es zu erreichen. Steht ab sofort auf meine Wunschliste. Danke für den Tip, Pit (😀)

I hope things will go back to normal soon, and yet, the more time that goes by and new variants pop up, the more I wonder if it will ever be the same. Even a different normal that’s not so scary would be good.

Es ist ein wirklich malerisches Staedtchen im Mittelrheintal, das selber dann wieder Weltkulturerbe ist.

Wow, fantastic medieval streets, really charming. I would love to take a trip down the Rhine sometime, and really explore the whole area around Mainz. That is a pretty spectacular hotel.

It is a really charming little town – as are many others all over Germany. We did a trip down the Rhine when we were in Bacharach. We took the train up to Bingen, then a ship down the Rhine to Koblenz, and then a train back to Bacharach. That part of the Rhine Valley is a World Cultural Heritage Area.

That sounds like an absolutely wonderful trip.
I was also thinking about the composer Burt Bacharach, I wonder if his family came from that town in the old days.

Dieses traumhaft schöne Städtchen lernte ich während einem Reha-Aufenthalt in der Nähe kennen, lieber Pit und deine Fotos davon sind märchenhaft schön!

Bacherach ist wirklich ein schönes Städtchen . Kenne es auch von meinen Kurzurlaube am Rhein. Die Städtchen generell sind auf dieser Strecke einfach toll und eines schöner als das andere !
