We arrived at our cabin, the „Hidden River Retreat“, on the Sabinal River between Vanderpool/TX and the Lost Maples State Natural Area yesterday afternoon and had this wonderful view in the early evening:

I knew it could not be long before the mature bucks would arrive because it’s the beginning of mating-season just now, and lo and behold, this evening I saw the first one:

Today I had wanted to take some sunset pictures, and as I can’t get good shots from near our condo because the buildings are in the way, I drove to the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Birding Centre, from where I would have unobstructed views to the west. Here’s a panorama from after the sun had dipped below the horizon:

Heute hatte ich Bilder vom Sonnenuntergang machen wollen, und weil ich aus der näheren Umgebung unseres Apartments keine guten Aufnahmen machen kann, denn es sind Gebäude im Weg, bin ich zum Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Centre gefahren, von wo ich ungehinderten Ausblick nach Westen habe. Hier ein Panorama, nachdem die Sonne unter dem Horizont verschwunden war:

Port Aransas: Holzsteg im Abend-Sonnenlicht
Als ich gestern am späten Nachmittag von unserer Unterkunft über den Holzsteg zum Strand gegangen bin, war ich ganz überrascht, wieviele Sonnenblumen dort blühten:
For a short while, we had some great clouds in the sky over our back yard. The „EasyHDR“ software – I must admit – made them look way more dramatic than how they appeared to the naked eye. But I like the way they turned out:
Abendwolken (zugegebenermaßen überdramatisiert)
Für eine kurze Zeit heute Abend hatten wir einige sehr faszinierende Wolken am Himmel über unserem Garten. Die „EasyHDR“ Software macht diese Wolken, das muss ich zugeben, im Aussehen wesentlich dramatisaher als sie dem bloßen Auge erschienen. Aber mir gefällt diese Wiedergabe:
Port Aransas was, like all other cities hereabouts, festively decorated for the Christmas season, with many a colourful light. A Port A. specialty are the Farley Planters, small concrete replicas of the Farley Boats Port A. used to be famous for. They can be found all over the place, in the summer with beautiful flowers, and in the Christmas season with lights and ornaments. The people of Port A. take their pride in decorating very imaginatively.
Port Aransas war, wie alle anderen Städte hier, festlich für die Weihnachtszeit dekoriert, mit vielen bunten Lichtern. Eine Spezialität von Port Aransas sind die Farley Planters, kleine Betonnachbildungen der Farley Boats, für die Port Aransas früher berühmt war. Sie sind überall zu finden, im Sommer mit schönen Blumen und in der Weihnachtszeit mit Lichtern und Ornamenten. Die Menschen in Port A. sind stolz darauf, sie sehr einfallsreich zu dekorieren.
