Roland’s Weekly Photo Challenge #34 [2021-10-17]

For this year, Roland [he of the blog „Royusch unterwegs„] has launched a weekly photo challenge in addition to his monthly photo project on the subject of „food“. This week’s subject is „Boat“. I took this picture of a steam-powered narrowboat with a „butty boat“, that is a narrowboat without an engine, in tow, in 2011 on a narrowboat tour of English canals and rivers, on one of my best, if not THE best ever, holidays in England on a canal on the outskirts of Birmingham:

Für dieses Jahr hat Roland [vom Blog „Royusch unterwegs„] neben seinem monatlichen Fotoprojekt zum Thema „Nahrung“ auch eine wöchentliche Fotochallenge ins Leben gerufen. Für diese Woche ist das Thema „Boot“. Dieses Bild, ein dampfgetriebenes Narrowboat mit einem „Butty Boat“ [ein Narrowboat ohne eigenen Antrieb] im Schlepp, habe ich 2011 bei einer Narrowboat-Tour auf englischen Kanälen und Flüssen, einem meiner schönsten – wenn nicht DEM schönsten – Englandurlaube auf einem Kanal in den Außenbezirken von Birmingham aufgenommen:

Friday Filler, aka „Friday Flashback“: England [York] in 2013

San Angelo has its sheep statues, Berlin its bear statues, and York has its cat statues. This occurred to me as I was preparing my Friday Flashback for last Friday. York’s cat statues are not so easy to find, however, because they are hidden everywhere, among other things on window sills and on roofs – just like cats are. The city of York also has a „Cat Trail“: you wander through the city in an attempt to discover as many of these cat statues as possible. We found a few of them:

San Angelo hat seine Schafstatuen, Berlin seine Bärenstatuen, und York hat seine Katzenstatuen. Das fiel mir ein, als ich meinen Freitagsrückblick für den vergangenen Freitag vorbereitet habe. Die Katzenstatuen sind allerdings nicht so leicht zu finden, da sie sich überall verstecken, u.A. auf Fenstersimsen und auf Dächern – wie Katzen nun einmal sind. Die Stadt York hat auch einen „Cat Trail“: man wandert durch die Stadt in dem Bestreben, möglichst viele dieser Katzenstatuen zu entdecken. Ein paar davon haben wir gefunden:

Photoproject #8: Vehicles

On „Mannis Fotobude“ Manni has again called for participation in another, the eigtht, photoproject of his. This time the subject is „vehicles of all kinds“. Here’s contribution of mine, of one of the cars of the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway, a funicular railway that transports people up Castle Hill, from Low Town with the River Severn to Hightown and vice versa:

Fotoprojekt #8: Fahrzeuge

Auf seinem Blog „Mannis Fotobude“ hat Manni einmal mehr zur Teilnahme an einem weiteren, seinem achten, Fotoprojekt aufgerufen, dieses Mal zum Thema „Fahrzeuge aller Art„. Hier ist ein weitere meiner Beitraege, ein Waggon der Bridgnorth Cliff Railway, einem Schraegaufzug, der Personen den Castle Hill hinauf transportiert, von Low Town mit dem River Severn zur Hightown, und umgekehrt:

Looking through pictures of previous travels I happened to come across one I took in in 2011 in England, on Mary Arden’s farm in Stratford-upon-Avon, and which I have already shown here [„Ein Pferdeportrait„]. But this time I converted it into B&W, and I think the result is worth showing it again:
