Even though I’m still busy writing in my other blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„, about our stay in Carson City during this trip, and still have at least two more posts in the works about that, I would like to already show an „appetizer“ here for the next stage, the day we drove from Carson City, Nevada to St. George, Utah. For that, although it would be a significantly longer stretch, we chose US Highway 50, in its Nevada leg designated „The Loneliest Road in America“ by Life magazine in 1986. There was really not a soul on long stretches there, and cars were so rare that meeting two oncoming cars made me exclaim, „Now it’s rush hour!„:
Auch wenn ich mit meinen Artikeln über diese Reise in meinem anderen Blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„, immer noch mit unserem Aufenthalt in Carson City beschäftigt bin und dazu auch noch zumindest zwei Posts in Arbeit sind, so möchte ich hier doch schon einmal wieder ein „Appetithäppchen“ für den weiteren Verlauf zeigen, und zwar vom Tag unserer Fahrt von Carson City/Nevada nach St. George/Utah. Dafür hatten wir uns, auch wenn das eine bedeutend längere Strecke sein würde, den US Highway 50, in seiner Teilstrecke in Nevada von der Zeitschrift „Life“ im Jahre 1986 als „The Loneliest Road in America“ [„Die einsamste Straße in Amerika“] bezeichnet, ausgesucht. Auf weiten Strecken dort gab es wirklich keine Menschenseele, und auch Autos waren so selten, dass mich die Begegnung mit gleich zwei entgegenkommenden Wagen zum Ausruf, „Now it’s rush hour!“ veranlasste:

On our second day in Carson City, we went on an outing really deep into „Cartwright Country“, to Virginia City – yes, that of Bonanza fame, where, among other things, we had a short trip on a historic train of the Virginia & Truckee Railway:

Am letzten Tag unseres Aufenthalts in Palo Alto sind wir des Abends auf dem Gelände der Stanford Universität herumspaziert, und mir sind ein paar gute – wie ich glaube – Aufnahmen mit dem Diagonal-Fisheye und durch die Glaskugel gelungen.
