It’s been quite a while since I last posted anything here or in my other blog, Pit’s Bilderbuch [https://pitsbilderbuch.wordpress.com/]. Here’s an update now on the situation:
Kommentar-Probleme [Update] und Blog-Abstinenz
Es ist wirklich ja schon eine ganze Weile her, seit ich irgendetwas hier oder in meinem anderen Blog, Pit’s Bilderbuch [https://pitsbilderbuch.wordpress.com/], gepostet habe. Hier kommt nun ein Update über die jetzige Situation:
Two weeks ago I finally contacted WP’s support team and they were really helpful. And so quick to respond. Really mending the situation will – for various reasons – take some time, though. Let me give you some information. Very likely there are different reasons why I’m unable to comment on some blogs.
- One may be my usual browswer, Firefox. I’ve had some difficulties with that before, one because it is a German version, provided by my German email provider, GMX, and also possibly because of one or more add-ons. I’ll have to explore further. In some cases just switching to MS IE does the trick, but I don’t want to use that as my default browser.
- Then there’s the fact that I’ve committed two „sins“: on the one hand I’ve sometimes tried to send a comment twice when it didn’t immediatley appear. That, so Dennis – the WP happiness egineer who’s helping me – told me, makes it very likely for me to be marked as a spammer. I’ve also sometimes included quite a few links in my comments. Again something spammers do. I hope that with Dennis‘ help we’ll be able to c“onvince“ other blogs and their anti-spam sofware that I’m no spammer.
Vor etwa zwei Wochen habe ich mich endlich einmal dazu durchgerungen, mich um Hilfe an den Support von WP zu wenden, und ich fand die Leute da sehr hilfsbereit. Und schnell in ihrer Antwort. Die Situation wirklich zu bereinigen wird allerdings etwas länger dauern – aus verschiedenen Gründen. Hier dann etwas mehr Information. Höchstwahrscheinlich hat es mehrere verschiedene Ursachen, dass ich nicht überall mehr kommentieren kann.
- Zum Einen kann es an meinem normalen Browser, Firefox, liegen. Ich habe damit schon früher manchmal Probleme gehabt, einerseits, weil es eine deutsche Version ist, die von meinem Email-Provider – GMX – zur Verfügung gestellt wird, und andererseits möglicherweise wegen der von mir installierten Add-ons. Ich werde das weiter verfolgen müssen. In manchen Fällen hilft es, einfach zu MS IE zu wechseln, aber den will ich eigentich nicht als meinen Standardbrowser verwenden.
- Und dann ist da die Tatsache, dass ich zwei „Sündenfälle“ begangen habe: zum Einen habe ich manchmal einen Kommentar gleich noch einmal geschickt, wenn er nicht sofort in anderen Blog erschienen ist. Das, so hat Dennis von WP mir erklärt, hat manche Sicherheitssoftware wohl dazu veranlasst, mich als Spammer zu deklarieren. Ein zweite „Sünde“ ist, dass ich manchmal in meinen Kommentaren mehrere Links eingefügt habe: ebenfalls ein Merkmal von Spammern. Ich hoffe nun, dass Dennis – der WP Happiness Engineer, der mir zur Zeit hilft – diese anderen Blogs und deren Sicherheitssoftware davon „überzeugen“ kann, dass ich kein Spammer bin.
What will be coming:
- I’ll keep checking, on which blogs and with which browsers I’m unable to comment, compile a list, and let Dennis know. He will check these out himself and, if necessary, contact the blog owners and try to remedy this situation if it’s something in their blogs that needs to be changed. It will be some time before that can happen, though. I hope you don’t mind. If anyone of you – those on whose blogs I can’t comment – doesn’t want to be contacted by Dennis, please let me know.
- I’ll also try to determine what I can do on my side, with my different bowsers and their add-ons, and try to eliminate any culprits here.
Was nun passiert:
- Ich werde weiter überprüfen, auf welchen Blogs und mit welchen Browsern ich nicht kommentieren kann, und ich werde Dennis das Ergebnis wissen lassen. Er wird diese Blogs dann selber überprüfen und, falls nötig, die Blogeigentümer kontaktieren und versuchen, diese Situation in den Griff zu kriegen, falls es an Einstellungen in diesen Blogs liegen sollte. Das wird allerdings noch eine Weile hin sein. Ich hoffe aber, Ihr habt nichts dagegen. Falls irgendwer von Euch – von denjenigen, bei denen ich nicht kommentieren kann, nicht von WP kontaktiert werden möchte, lasst es mich bitte wissen.
- Ich meinerseits werde Alles versuchen, Ursachen, soweit sie möglicherweise in meinen Browsern liegen, zu finden und abzustellen.
Well, that’s that. And now something about my blogging-abstinence: it’s been an interesting experience! While I first was frustrated by the situation and – even if I could easily have done otherwise – didn’t write anything here on my blogs, I later found it nice to have a pause and to be able to devote more time to other things. It’s not my own blogging that is so time-consuming, though, but my comments on other blogs, with the consequence of getting answers – which sometimes develops into a kind of a longish dialogue. But I must admit, I miss these dialogues. And that’s why I have decided to finally start blogging again – some time soon at least.
Nun, das ist das. Und nun noch etwas zu meiner Blogging-Abstinenz: es war eine interessante Erfahrung! Während ich am Anfang noch durchaus frustiert war über die ganze Misere und – auch wenn ich es leicht hätte ändern können – noch nicht einmal hier in meinem eigenen Blog etwas geschrieben habe, so empfand ich es später doch als angenehm, eine Pause im Bloggen und damit mehr Zeit für andere Dinge des Lebens zu haben. Es ist dabei noch nicht einmal mein eigenes Bloggen, das so zeitraubend ist, sondern es sind vielmehr (auch) meine Kommentare auf anderen Blogs, mit der Konsequenz, dass ich dann Antworten bekomme, die ich natürlich wieder beantworten möchte. Das kann sich dann häufig zu echten Dialogen ausweiten. Aber ich muss zugeben, dass ich diese Dialoge in gewisser Weise auch vermisse. Und das ist es, warum ich nun wieder anfangen werde zu bloggen – zumindest bald.
