Farbenfrohe Komantschen

Earlier this year the festivities as to the celebration of Fredericksburg’s 175th anniversary ended with commemorating the signing of the treaty between the Penataka Comanche tribe and the white settlers on May 9, 1847. Some members of that tribe were here on the Marktplatz and danced in their colourful outfits:

Früher in diesem Jahr endeten die Feierlichkeiten zum 175. Jahrestag der Gründung von Fredericksburg mit dem Gedenken an die Unterzeichnung des Vertrags zwischen dem Stamm der Penataka Komantschen und den weißen Siedlern am 9. Mai 1847. Einige Mitglieder dieses Stammes waren hier auf dem Marktplatz und tanzten in ihrer farbenprächtigen Kleidung:

Sunset over Lower Crabapple Road and the Hills

This is a panoramic view „our“ Lower Crabapple Road, taken from the roadside at our first driveway. You see the corner of Lower Crabapple and Frederick on the left, with Northwood Hills/Cedarhead nearly in the middle in the background and Kneese Hill to the right. You can also see our second/main driveway and – if you look closely enough – our mailbox on the right hand side.

This also fits in nicely with Roland’s photoproject of panorama pictures.

Hier ist eine Panorama-Ansicht „unserer“ Lower Crabapple Road, aufgenommen vom Straßenrand an unserer ersten Einfahrt. Man sieht die Ecke von Frederick Road und Lower Crabapple Road am linken Bildrand, Northwood Hills und Cedarhead ungefähr in der Bildmitte im Hintergrund und Kneese Hill am rechten Bildrand. Man sieht rechts auch unsere zweite Einfahrt und – wenn man genau hinschaut – auch unseren Briefkasten am Straßenrand.

Das Bild passt auch gut zu Rolands Fotoprojekt „Panorama Bilder„.

Hier ist mein (erster) Beitrag zu einem weiteren, dem 9., von Mannis Fotoprojekten. Das Thema dieses Mal ist „Nachtfotografie“:

As I never use a tripod, I had to not only push up the ISO to 1600, which makes the picture somewhat grainy, but also use 1/4s exposure time, which in turn makes the picture somewhat blurry. But I still think it really shows the atmosphere of the Christmas Season here in Fredericksburg/TX.

Da ich nie ein Stativ benutze, musste ich nicht nur den ISO-Wert auf 1600 hochschrauben, was das Bild etwas körnig macht, sondern ich musste auch mit 1/4s belichten, was das Bild leicht verwackelt macht. Aber ich glaube, es bringt die Atmosphäre der Weihnachtszeit hier in Fredericksburg/Texas recht gut zur Geltung.
