Everyone who knows me and my blogging will know that there will always be posts about restaurants we ate at and the food we had. How can it be different with our visits to San Angelo? So here’s another appetizer, a panoramic view of the inside of the „Angry Cactus“, where we ate twice and both times enjoyed a fabulous dinner.

Jeder, der mich und meine Bloggerei kennt, weiß, dass es immer Beiträge über Restaurants, in denen wir gegessen haben, und über das Essen da gibt. Warum sollte das bei unseren Besuchen in San Angelo anders sein? Also kommt hier ein weiteres Appetithäppchen, ein Panoramabild des Inneren des „Angry Cactus“, wo wir zwei Mal gegessen und jedes Mal ein exzellentes Abendessen genossen haben.
Yesterday I started sifting through and editing my photos of the murals, of which San Angelo has an enormous amount to offer. Before I’m going to publish a photo essay of the murals on my other blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„, I would like to show another mural here. This, a whole wall of individual paintings, can only be shown in its entirety as a panorama:

Gestern habe ich damit angefangen, meine Fotos von den Wandbildern, von denen San Angelo eine enorme Menge zu bieten hat, zu sichten und zu bearbeiten. Hier möchte ich jetzt vorab, ehe ich dazu einen Fotoessay auf meinem anderen Blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„, veröffentliche, schon ein weiteres Wandbild zeigen. Dieses, eine ganze Wand von Einzelbildern, kann ich in seiner Gesamheit nur als Panorama zeigen:

Because I’m still writing the draft about our first day of the short trip to San Angelo at the beginning of June, I would like to show another appetizer, a panorama of some murals of which San Angelo has a lot:

Weil ich immer noch dabei bin, den Bericht auch nur über unseren ersten Tag des Kurztrips nach San Angelo Anfang Juni fertigzustellen, möchte ich hier einmal mehr ein Appetithäppchen zeigen, und zwar ein Panorama von Wandbildern, von denen San Angelo eine große Menge zu bieten hat:
I’ve at least made a little progress in my other blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„, with my posts about our trip to Rockport/Fulton, although there are still more articles pending, but until I really get to blogging about our short trip to San Angelo that may take a while, especially since we will be setting off on a longer trip on Thursday, to California. And before that there is still so much to do and finish, including planting the cacti that we brought back from San Angelo that I doubt there will be more than appetizers for San Angelo before the trip. So here’s another appetizer, with a picture of the Tom Green County Courthouse:

Mit meinen Beiträgen über unseren Ausflug nach Rockport/Fulton in meinem anderen Blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„, habe ich ja nun wenigstens schon ein wenig Fortschritt gemacht, wenn auch immer noch weitere Artikel dort ausstehen, aber bis ich wirklich zu Berichten über unseren Kurztrip nach San Angelo komme, das kann noch eine Weile dauern, zumal wir am Donnerstag schon zu einer längeren Reise aufbrechen werden, nach Kalifornien. Und vorher gibt es noch so viel zu erledigen und zu tun, u.A. Kakteen pflanzen, die wir aus San Angelo mitgebracht haben, dass ich bezweifle, dass es vor der Reise zu mehr als nur zu Appetithäppchen kommen wird. Daher also auf jeden Fall einmal hier ein weiteres Appetithäppchen, mit einem Bild des Tom Green County Courthouse:
Tom Green County Courthouse, San Angelo/Texas
San Angelo is the county seat of Tom Green County, and has a really impressive courthouse. It was built in 1928 in the Classical Revival style, with monumental colonnades of Corinthian columns on two facades.
San Angelo ist der County Sitz von Tom Green County, und hat ein wirklich sehr imposantes Courthouse. Es wurde 1928 im Classical Revival Stil erbaut, mit monumentalen Kolonaden von korinthischen Säulen an zwei Fassaden.
A side aspect of our trip to San Angelo – the main purpose was to buy cacti for our garden – was, among other things, to take pictures for my new photo project, „Texas Courthouses“. I got the idea for this project when we stopped in Hamilton on our way back from Waco and I photographed the courthouse there. On this trip here another 5 were added.
A few notes on the picture here:
The original is totally distorted in colour because I had inadvertently adjusted the white balance of the camera to „incandescent light“ without noticing it. This made the photo qbsolutely bluish. But with „EasyHDR I was able to“ save „it and, admittedly, also reproduce it a little further in the direction of“ warm „and with higher contrast and more coluor saturation. And of course it is distorted because of the diagonal fisheye, but that’s what I like here, because of the lines.
Ein paar Anmerkungen zum Bild hier:
Das Original ist total farbverfälscht, weil ich ohne es zu merken den Weißabgleich der Kamera verstellt hatte, auf „Glühlicht“. Damit wurde das Foto total blaustichig. Aber mit „EasyHDR konnte ich es „retten“ und, zugegeben, auch noch etwas weiter in Richtung „warm“ und mit höherem Kontrast und mit stärkerer Farbsättigung wiedergeben. Und natürlich ist es wegen des diagonalen Fisheyes verzerrt, aber gerade das gefällt mir hier, wegen der Linienführung.
I haven’t even been able to get around writing even a single blog post about our trip to Rockport/Fulton yet, and there are lots and lots more pictures already of our recent trip to San Angelo. Sorting through all these, then editing them, and finally writing the blog posts will take a long time, especially as we’ll be going on a 3-week+ trip to California next Thursday, which – on the one hand – will produce a lot more pictures, and – on the other hand – will limit the time I can spend at my computer, or – while travelling – my laptop. Be it as it may, here’s an appetizer for San Angelo, a picture of a water lily taken at the International Waterlily Collection there:

Ich bin noch nicht einmal dazu gekommen, auch nur einen einzigen Blogbeitrag über unsere Reise nach Rockport/Fulton zu schreiben, und schon gibt es jede Menge weiterer Bilder von unserer letzten Kurzreise nach San Angelo. Das alles zu sortieren, dann zu bearbeiten und schließlich die Blogbeiträge zu schreiben wird lange dauern, zumal wir am nächsten Donnerstag zu einer 3-Wochen+ Reise nach Kalifornien aufbrechen werden, was einerseits eine Menge mehr Bilder bringen wird, und andererseits die Zeit, die ich vor meinem Computer oder – auf Reisen – vor meinem Laptop verbringen kann, deutlich reduzieren wird. Wie dem auch sei, hier eine Vorspeise für San Angelo, ein Bild einer Seerose, aufgenommen in der dortigen International Waterlily Collection:
