Courthouses in Texas – Noch ein Appetithäppchen [Das Coryell County Courthouse in Gatesville/Texas]
On our recent trip to Vermont and back I took the opportunity to take pictures for my photo-project „Texas Courthouses“. On our way up we passed, among others, through Gatesville, the county seat of Coryell County, and here’s their courthouse:
Auf unserer kürzlichen Reise nach Vermont und zurück habe ich die Gelegenheit genutzt, weitere Bilder für mein Fotoprojekt „Texanische Courthouses“ zu machen. Auf unserem Weg hinauf nach Vermont kamen wir u.A. durch Gatesville, dem Verwaltungssitz von Coryell County, und hier ist deren Courthouse [Verwaltungs- und Gerichtsgebäude]:

When I was at the Marktplatz today to take pictures of the 17th Annual Fredericksburg Car Show [for my fotoessay on my other blog click on this link here], I also took the opportunity to take pictures of our courthouses, the old one that now houses the public library, and the new one that replaced it, in anticipation of my upcoming series on Texas courthouses on my other blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„. Here’s the new one:
Als ich heute auf dem Marktplatz war, um Fotos von der 17ten Annual Fredericksburg Car Show zu machen [für meinen Fotoessay dazu in meinem anderen Blog klicke auf diesen Link hier], habe ich auch die Gelegenheit genutzt, Fotos von unseren Gerichtsgebäuden zu machen, dem alten, das jetzt die öffentliche Bibliothek beherbergt und das neue, das sie ersetzt hat, in Erwartung meiner bevorstehenden Serie über texanische Gerichtsgebäude in meinem anderen Blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„. Hier ist das neue:

I’ve at least made a little progress in my other blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„, with my posts about our trip to Rockport/Fulton, although there are still more articles pending, but until I really get to blogging about our short trip to San Angelo that may take a while, especially since we will be setting off on a longer trip on Thursday, to California. And before that there is still so much to do and finish, including planting the cacti that we brought back from San Angelo that I doubt there will be more than appetizers for San Angelo before the trip. So here’s another appetizer, with a picture of the Tom Green County Courthouse:

Mit meinen Beiträgen über unseren Ausflug nach Rockport/Fulton in meinem anderen Blog, „Pit’s Fritztown News„, habe ich ja nun wenigstens schon ein wenig Fortschritt gemacht, wenn auch immer noch weitere Artikel dort ausstehen, aber bis ich wirklich zu Berichten über unseren Kurztrip nach San Angelo komme, das kann noch eine Weile dauern, zumal wir am Donnerstag schon zu einer längeren Reise aufbrechen werden, nach Kalifornien. Und vorher gibt es noch so viel zu erledigen und zu tun, u.A. Kakteen pflanzen, die wir aus San Angelo mitgebracht haben, dass ich bezweifle, dass es vor der Reise zu mehr als nur zu Appetithäppchen kommen wird. Daher also auf jeden Fall einmal hier ein weiteres Appetithäppchen, mit einem Bild des Tom Green County Courthouse:
Tom Green County Courthouse, San Angelo/Texas
San Angelo is the county seat of Tom Green County, and has a really impressive courthouse. It was built in 1928 in the Classical Revival style, with monumental colonnades of Corinthian columns on two facades.
San Angelo ist der County Sitz von Tom Green County, und hat ein wirklich sehr imposantes Courthouse. Es wurde 1928 im Classical Revival Stil erbaut, mit monumentalen Kolonaden von korinthischen Säulen an zwei Fassaden.
A side aspect of our trip to San Angelo – the main purpose was to buy cacti for our garden – was, among other things, to take pictures for my new photo project, „Texas Courthouses“. I got the idea for this project when we stopped in Hamilton on our way back from Waco and I photographed the courthouse there. On this trip here another 5 were added.
A few notes on the picture here:
The original is totally distorted in colour because I had inadvertently adjusted the white balance of the camera to „incandescent light“ without noticing it. This made the photo qbsolutely bluish. But with „EasyHDR I was able to“ save „it and, admittedly, also reproduce it a little further in the direction of“ warm „and with higher contrast and more coluor saturation. And of course it is distorted because of the diagonal fisheye, but that’s what I like here, because of the lines.
Ein paar Anmerkungen zum Bild hier:
Das Original ist total farbverfälscht, weil ich ohne es zu merken den Weißabgleich der Kamera verstellt hatte, auf „Glühlicht“. Damit wurde das Foto total blaustichig. Aber mit „EasyHDR konnte ich es „retten“ und, zugegeben, auch noch etwas weiter in Richtung „warm“ und mit höherem Kontrast und mit stärkerer Farbsättigung wiedergeben. Und natürlich ist es wegen des diagonalen Fisheyes verzerrt, aber gerade das gefällt mir hier, wegen der Linienführung.
