For this year, besides his once-a-month photo project „Food“, Roland [of the „Royusch Unterwegs“ blog] has started a weekly photo challenge. For this week, the subject is „Textur„. Today I would like to take part with a picture from our garden, of a mold that we had a lot of last year, probably brought in with mulch and compost from the municipal landfill.
Rolands wöchentliche Fotochallenge [02.05.2021]
Für dieses Jahr hat Roland [vom Blog „Royusch unterwegs“] neben seinem monatlichen Fotoprojekt zum Thema „Nahrung“ auch eine wöchentliche Fotochallenge ins Leben gerufen. Für diese Woche ist das Thema „Textur“. Heute möchte ich mich mit einem Bild aus unserem Garten beteiligen, von einem Schimmelpilz, den wir im vergangenen Jahr viel in unserem Garten hatten, vermutlich mit Mulch und Kompost aus der städtischen Mülldeponie eingeschleppt.
This mold, which goes by the scientific name Fuligo Septica, is also popularly referred to here by the far less aesthetic name „Dog Vomit Slime Mold“. But in complete contrast to this very unsavory name it doesn’t look bad at all and has a very fine structure – at least when it is still alive and growing. Later, however, when it has died and is decaying, it looks anything but appetizing. Dieser Schimmelpilz, mit dem wissenschaftlichen Namen Fuligo Septica, wird im Volksmund hier auch mit dem weit weniger ästhetischen Namen „Dog Vomit Slime Mold“ [„Hundekotze-Schleimpilz“] bezeichnet. Aber ganz im Gegensatz zu diesem sehr doch sehr unappetitlichen Namen sieht er – jedenfalls wenn er noch lebend und im Wachsen begriffen ist – gar nicht übel aus und weist eine sehr feine Struktur auf. Später allerdings, wenn er abgestorben ist und verwest, sieht er alles Andere als appetitlich aus.
